Search bar doesn't hide after pressing return + strange graphics error

Every time I search for something with google search, the Bookmars and History window remains active after pressing return to start the research.

The only way to make it disappear is to click somewhere in the screen and this is very frustrating.

The issue appears only in full screen mode and only with google and duckduck go engines. Seems it do not happen with bing and yahoo.

I've this problem since the first release of El Capitan and now I'm using 11.10.4 public beta. I tried clean install, resetting all preferences files, cleaned my keychain access certificates, disabling all options in Safari -> Preferences -> Smart Search Field, but always no luck.

Moreover yesterday I noticed that every time I click on a url or if I change tab, in console appears this error message:

_CGXRemoveWindowFromWindowMovementGroup: window 0x60 is not attached to window 0x6e

I sent a feedback to Apple but they never resolved this issue. I hope someone have a sort of workaround! Thanks

JP

Go step by step and test.

1. Disable Extensions and test.

Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Uncheck boxes beside “Enable Extension” and test.

Enable Extensions one by one and test.

To uninstall any extension, select it and click the “Uninstall” button.

2. Delete Caches

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" from the dropdown.

Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari

Right click the com.apple.Safari file and select "Move To Trash.

3. Delete com.apple.Safari.plist file and test.

Empty the Trash.

Quit all applications.

Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" from the drop down.

Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".

Restart. Relaunch Safari.

If this doesn’t help, “Put Back” the com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click on the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.

Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.
