Proximity sensor always active

Hello guys,

I got a new Iphone 5s this friday, it has a loose power button and a strange proximity sensor.

The problem is that the proximity sensor is always on, when I use the phone.

So I can see the red light in dark rooms. If I touch the screen the red light gets brighter.

I think that isn't normal, because the proximity sensor should only be activated If I receive a call.

I have tried a lot of things like deactivating siri and the automatic brightness, but the sensor is always on.

The Iphone has the newest IOS 9.2 and I have tried several times restoring to factory settings with Itunes, nothing helps.

Is it a new feature from Apple or is the device defective?

Can somebody please check his Iphone 5s in a dark room or with a camera if his proximity sensor is always active?

Here is a picture of it:

Did you already try to force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?

You will not lose data or settings, but it can cure some glitches.

If this does not work, set it back to factory settings again, this time without using the backup, set up your personal data manually and have a look at the sensor again.

If it still has the red glow, visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place and let them check the device.

You can also contact Apple Support about that.

There have been reports of a similar issue after updating iPhone, for example here:Front camera had red light coming out of it at night?
