MAIL - "Can't connect to the account "Web" - Enter the password for the user "xxx"

Hey,

Since a week, the following issue happens to me approximately 3 times a day. It's regarding the Apple "MAIL" programm.

When I want to send an email, the first thing that happens is that the email can't be sent and the following screen appears:
User uploaded file

I then enter the correct password, but it doesn't help. This is what happens next:

A "quick fix" is to quickly go to: Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts and then re-enter the password and save the changes, then it works for as long as I keep Mail opened. However, every time I open and close the mac, the problem is there again.

Another thing that happens:

On the top right hand corner of MAIL, it says that I am not connected and should re-enter my password:

Again, this does not solve my issue at all. When I re-enter the password, this is what happens:

This is really troublesome and I hope someone can help me out there 😉

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

In the Window Menu of the Mail app open the Connection Doctor and tell us what it says.

If you know the Ports it is supposed to be using you may be able to resolve this from the information shown.

Hi,

That is the outgoing server.

Open the Preferences then Accounts and choose the Account that is not logging in properly.

Use the drop down at the Outgoing Server item and select the Edit STMP server list.

Click the Advanced button and check the Port and SSL boxes

For me this Account I am showing you is Off line as it is not using any Authentication so it will not login and Google uses the password for the Account.

So you may need to check this is doing what you want for your server.

On the Account info button you may need to check the server name that is being used.

Other issues can also be the Internet server you use may not allow Outgoing Mail on port 25 to another mail server that is not theirs.

You will notice my website email is linked to the Gmail one as is the Lineone account.

I never set up (paid for) the Outgoing mail server on my Web site when I set it up.

The Lineone one is an old Dial Up account. I can fetch mail from it but I have to be Logged in via Dial-up to be able to Send.
This is a bit more that I suggested. My ISP (Sky) allows outgoing Mail to other servers but some ISPs don't do this.
