Q: Running Logic Pro 9 from Time Machine Backup on El Capitan

I've started my brand new 2015 iMac 27-inch running El Capitan 10.12.2 from a Time Machine backup of my old MacBook Pro. I opened Logic Pro 9 from the Applications folder on the new mac, entered my info and the serial number.  Then the rainbow circle spins and nothing happens, eventually have to force quit.  Will Logic even run on this OS? Should I just upgrade to X? Any help you could provide would be great

Logic Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Its never a good idea to simply restore an app like LP9 from a backup.... when installing on a new Mac...

As you are using a serial number, you must be using the DVD version of LP9 and not the App Store version...

So, delete the app you copied over and empty trash....

    Then..

You will need to reinstall using the DVDs to ensure everything that is needed is correctly installed. No DVD drive? Use Remote Drive...

Use the CD or DVD drive from another computer with your Mac - Apple Support

    or...

Just pick up or borrow a USB DVD drive and use that....

Additional Notes: LP9 does seem to run under 10.11.2 (not 10.12 as thats not been released yet!) but it is considered 'end of line'd (No longer supported)  and so you may face issues with it's stability in the future..

Make sure any external hardware/audio/midi devices you have connected to your new Mac, are fully updated driver wise and are also fully compatible with 10.11
