Q: i don't see individual songs on ipod nano in itunes

With my ipod nano selected in itunes, when I click on "music" in the ipod settings, I see lists for playlists, artists, genres and albums. I want to delete individual songs, not entire albums. How do I view the individual songs that are on my ipod nano?

OK, I'm a novice here. I found it.

Mac OS X (10.6.7), null

Go to that screen, where you clicked Music under Settings (in the sidebar).  A bit further down (in the sidebar), under On My Device, click Music.  To the right, you see a list of songs on iPod.  To remove a song, select it on the list and press Delete on keyboard.  You an do this with more than on song selected at the same time.

HOWEVER, if you can see the "lists for playlists, artists, genres and albums" on the Settings - Music screen, you probably have your iPod currently set to automatically Sync Music.  If so, you cannot delete songs on the iPod directly from the On My Device - Music screen.  iTunes is keeping your iPod "in sync" with your iTunes library (on the computer), based on how you set up the Settings - Music screen.

If you want to manually add songs to and remove songs from iPod, select the iPod in iTunes to show its Summary settings screen in iTunes window.  Find the  checkbox there for Manually manage music [and videos].  Check that box and click Apply.  Your iPod is now set for manual loading; iTunes is no longer using the Settings - Music screen.  You can use the On My Device - Music screen to remove songs.

To load songs on iPod manually, show your music library and click Playlists on horizontal bar to show the sidebar (along left side of window).  In the sidebar, your iPod is listed under Devices.  Drag songs from music library to sidebar and drop on iPod.  You can do this with more than one song selected.  Alternately, instead of dragging/dropping, right-click song selection and Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].  To see what is currently on iPod, click the small triangle to the left of iPod (in the sidebar) to drop down its content list.  Click Music there (on the content list).  The iPod's song list is shown to the right.  You can also remove songs from that list.
