new 4th gen - playback stops

Frustrating problem with my new 4th gen shuffle. The playback stops after random tracks & I have to switch off and wait 10 secs before starting again? Mildly annoying in the house but a nightmare out on the bike. Any ideas??

First, make sure the headphones plug is fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack. The fit can be tighter than expected, especially when brand new. It should "click" into place.


If that's not the problem, try different headphones to rule out faulty headphones as the cause. The shuffle can receive remote control signals from the headphones cord. It may be receiving a false signal from the cord, even if the there are no remote control buttons.
