Book Series

I want my Harry Potter books to be shown in iTunes as a series. How do I do this? They were purchased a long time ago. I have them grouped together (using Genre Harry Potter) but they are not showing in the correct order ie. books 1 to 7.

My mistake, these are iBooks then? If you use the Book List view you can enable the various sort fields. Click twice slowly just inside the left edge of the box to edit. Depending on which fields are displaying in the list view or Get Info I set:

Name=Album=Title (Weirdly title doesn't seem to be a renaming of another field that shows in the list view)

Sort Name=Sort Album=Sort Title (as <Series> <Index>)

Aritst=Album Artist=Author=Composer

Sort Artist=Sort Album Artist=Sort Author=Sort Composer (as <Surname>, <Forename>)

Disc#=Track# (as <Index>)

Grouping (as <Series>)

Thus my Harry Hole books by Jo Nesbø, for example, appear together and in the correct order in a variety of views, both when sorted by title or artist.

I have this issue too, it's very frustrating. In iTunes there isn't a series name or series number, you can only change the info in the sort names as mentioned by @turingtest2. The new iBooks shows the series info in the list view, but again it appears to be blocked from editing. And it the blocking doesn't seem to mater if the epub was purchased from iTunes store or other source. Major fail on Apple's part when I have almost 400 books in my library. Have either of you found another option? I have been searing online for apps that allow you to edit metadata and add fields, but when I import it back to iTunes all changes seem to be lost.

Ah, you must have iTunes set for English (United Kingdom). Although in the UK I prefer the US column headings. Series is a numeric field that ties up with Series Name, both of which are intended for use with TV Shows. The US labels are Season Number and Show. I invite you to use Grouping instead as previously suggested because you can make use of it in the Column Browser.
