Mag safe charger stayed orange when removed from computer, now won't charge.

Ill try to explain this as best as possible. Today, when I took my computer off the charger, the orange light stayed on. It was plugged into the wall, but not connected to anything and stayed orange. I put my computer back on it hours later and the computer shows it connected, but says that the battery is not charging. At this point, the orange light is still on. I remove it. It stays on. I unplug it, and the light finally goes off after about ten seconds of being unplugged. Now I leave it unplugged for at least five minutes, and try again. The light will no longer turn on at all, yet the computer still sees it, has the little lightning bolt showing up, but when you click to see more info, it says the battery is not charging. During this time, my battery is not losing charge, but it is not gaining any, either.

Help. I tried in my other macbook and same thing, so it's definitely a cord thing. I will leave it plugged in all night and hope one of you can help me before morning!

TIA!

I'm not sure what year your Macbook is but I had a mid 2010 Macbook that did that. I changed batteries , I changed chargers. It ended up being the logic board and was unrepairable. What I ended up doing was paying 200 for another one and transferring my drive. If it is in the logic board do not waste your time.

So , try the reset , clean your contacts and if all else fails go to the apple genius bar and ask them for a free assessment ( they will do this sometimes) . They are probably the only ones that can tell you if they try the internal reset and it doesn't work.
