how do i make iMessage work on my laptop

I had my iMessage set up on my laptop about a year ago and it was working fine for a while. But about two months later it would not let me say I was online and it would say that my username and password was incorrect, however, I am positive it is correct. Is there a way to restart the program, or any other way I can fix my problem?
