What is the difference between "Delete from My Music" and "Remove Download"? What do they do?

Running iOS 9.2

I was deleting songs from my library to save space and when I tapped delete, it gave me the option to either "Delete from My Music" or "Remove Download". What do they do? I do not use iTunes Match and I am not a member of Apple Music.

iPad 2, iOS 9.2

That is strange because I thought you only got that "Delete from My Music" when using iCloud Music Library (or iTunes Match). I would check to see if either of those two services are actually turned ON.

Anyway the difference is (again this applies to ICML and I believe iTunes Match):

Delete from My Music - removes the song listing from your iCloud Music Library on all your linked devices without actually deleting the physical files from the device and/or computer hard drive.

Remove Download - removes a song that was actually downloaded to that device from ICML, but does not remove it from your library. It would still be listed for streaming.

DELETE FROM MY MUSIC – removes the song from your "My Music" on your iPhone but the music files stay on your iPhone (you'll see the songs you've deleted when you connect your iPhone to your MAC or PC) *still takes up space on your iPhone*

REMOVE DOWNLOAD – removes the song from your iPhone completely (when you connect with your MAC or PC you won't see the songs you've deleted on your iPhone anymore). *clears up space on your iPhone*
