Q: iPhone 6 Plus Crashes

Hi all,

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and recently I've noticed something very worrying.  The first incident was early in December 2015:  I have an alarm set on my phone to wake me up in the morning.  On this particular morning, I overslept because the alarm never went off.  When I looked at my phone it was frozen at the exact moment when the alarm was supposed to go off.  I hard to do a hard-restart to get it working again.  I thought it was strange but didn't think any more of it, simply putting it down as a once-in-a-lifetime fluke.

However, this morning again my alarm didn't go off.  I checked my phone and, even though it had been plugged in to the charger, it was completely dead.  I couldn't even turn it on and had to do a hard-start (pressing the home and lock buttons simultaneously for several seconds).  When I finally got the phone back on, I saw that it was fully charged, my alarm was set correctly and everything.

I have now been late for work twice in two months because of this stupid phone.  What gives?  Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and is there a solution to it?

I'd really appreciate any help on this.

Regards,

W

    Hi there iWiki,

It sounds like your phone seems to be becoming unresponsive when the alarm is supposed to go off for some reason. What I would do is quit the Clock app and the Settings app as well:

Force an app to close in iOS

    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.

    3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that restart the device and test the issue a couple times by setting an alarm to go off after a few minutes, maybe again in a few hours as well:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.
