Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

You can also remove the adware manually using the steps provided by Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

After that, make sure your default search engine is set to the one you always use. To do so, Open Safari - Preferences - Search.

Go to Safari menu (At the very top right side of your screen next to Apple icon), choose "Quit Safari"

press "Shift" button and while holding this button on your keyboard single click on the Safari icon on your Dock.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - Remove All Website Data.

Also, I believe it would be a good idea to install AdBlock.

It is an extension. For Safari, Safari/Preferences/Extensions and delete.

Open Google Chrome and select Preferences from the menu. Next, click on the Extensions link which is located on the left side of the window. Once the list shows up, select Lunaticake and uninstall it from the browser.

Open Mozilla Firefox and select Add-ons from the Tools menu. Find Lunaticake from Extensions and Plugins and delete if it is present.

Once removed, restart the browser.

Lunaticake is not only a malicious extensions, but is also a browser hijacker. Some people call it adware, it most likely is. Since it's a browser hijacker it's most likely spyware as well, not to mention the malicious extension has access to all information including passwords, usernames, credit card info, browsing history etc. meaning the malicious browser extension is also spyware. I've had to clean it myself. I believe it's a PUP and I think it was bundled with mackeeper in the earlier versions.Use kaspersky, bitdefender or malwarebytes if you don't want to manually clean it. I recommend using malwarebytes and either kaspersky or bitdefender because malwarebytes doesnt always detect everything and neither does bitdefender or kaspersky. You'll have to reset your homepage as well, clear all history (recommended) and uninstall the safari extension yourself. If you use any other browser you'll have to uninstall the browser extension for those browsers as well. Be safe, do your research before installing anything onto your computer and ALWAYS read terms and conditions just in case of PUP's.
