Q: Audio drift

I have a 29.97i HDCAM master with stereo mix & am trying to digitize the tape to FCP 7 as 23.98p, but am experiencing audio drift on capture.

The system I am using has a Kona card & i can select the cross-conversion with no issues.

The the picture looks fine in a number of tests, however the issue is that the audio that is captured with the picture is out of synch.

Have done some searches for a similar issue & haven't found anything.


Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Conversion on output with Kona...good. Conversion on input with Kona...not so good. Actually, with ANY capture card, you can output and convert the frame rate fine, but capture and change it doesn't work. Audio drift. Got this with the Kona 2, Kona 3, and Decklink cards...and Matrox box. They just don't do it.

 

SO you have to capture as 1080i29.97 and then convert to 23.98 after the fact, with Compressor.
