Q: BootCamp issues

Hi! I have a MBA mid-2012 running the latest OS. I'm trying to BootCamp a Windows 7 x64 .iso I retrieved from an old hard drive. I copied it on my MBA and every time I try to get BootCamp running, it will mount the .iso, resulting in a beautiful :"Your bootable USB device could not be created." error. I tried unmounting the .iso but BootCamp keeps bringing it back up each time. Also, I tried PRAM/SMC reset, different USB/.iso, pretty much all I could think of. Also, I tried running only the last options of BootCamp after having manually download BootCamp 5 utilities manually, "Install Windows 7 or later version" and I get an error again :"The installer disc could not be found." I'm running out of options.. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I have a MBA mid-2012 running latest OS (El Capitain).

I am trying to make a bootable USB Windows installation disk (which in theory is possible via BootCamp).

The Windows OS I am trying to install is Windows 7 x64.

The USB is formatted to FAT32 and MBR.

MacBook Air, iOS 9.2

Turns out I used corrupted .iso files. Well, everything's working fine now! I fixed the issue by downloading the official Windows 10 .iso from Microsoft directly.

Microsoft should start publishing MD5sum/SHA1 for every ISO that they provide which can be verified after the download.

Definitely! It would save most of us plenty of times. As a side note, I'm now having issues after having installed Win 10. It boots, and after the logo spins for 5-10 seconds, the screen goes black and never comes back. Any idea of what's going on now?

Did you disable Windows Automatic Updates during the W10 installation? W10 seems to push WHQL updates which cause grief for BC-certified GPU drivers. Try booting Windows in Safe Mode, if possible. If that does not work, you may have to re-install Windows, but disconnect from the network on the first Windows Installer screen.

Sorry for the late response! I haven't tried disabling those updates as I don't know how in fact. Any tips on how to disable network connection on the first installer screen? Also, safe boot mode has not worked yet.

Since Wireless drivers are not installed yet when the Installer starts, the only possible connection is an Ethernet (wired) connection. Physically remove the network cable on the first Installer screen before choosing the partition.

This makes perfect sense, but I have not installed W10 with an Ethernet cable. I've then fails.tried reinstalling W10 and the problem starts right after preparing peripherals. which reaches 27% and then fails.

Can you check logs, which can be read form the OS X side in the Bootcamp volume?

Ok so I checked the Intel logs (I assumed those were the ones you mentioned since I couldn't find any other) and in Windows Version it shows Windows 8. I'm guessing the drivers aren't the right one altogether? I'll copy it so you can take a look!

    1. The following directory

    D:\$WinPEDriver$\IntelIVBGraphics64\ICCS\SetupICCS.exe

         belongs to a Windows 10.

    2. You reference

    I'm trying to BootCamp a Windows 7 x64 .iso

    3. You want the ISO in a folder other than Desktop.

    4. You will need to replace $WinPEDriver$, AutoUnattend.xml, and the entire Bootcamp folder from the BC package appropriate for your specific Mac available at Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support .
