Q: I download video from the cloud and it comes up gray with no pictures in it.

I see media in the side panel of iMovie on my iPad pro. When I select a video clip, it first has to download it. before it downloads I can see what the clip contains. after the download it goes to gray. also nothing ever appears in the top preview section. Help please

If you add the clip to the timeline in a project, does it show up and play?

it shows up as a grey bar. like the clip would look without the video and most often without the audio. when you press play the bar moves but still no content.

Does the video play in your Photos app? Where did the video originate and what format is it? (It's possible the clip is in some format that iMovie doesn't fully support).

If possible, you might also try sending the video to iMovie on another iOS device and see if it happens to play there. If not, and it's a supported format, it may be a bug which you can report to Apple here -- http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie_ios.html

I Recorded video on my iPhone, shared it on iCloud Photo Sharing. I can see and view the clips in their shared folder but cannot find a way to place the clips in iMovie.i Can select the clips, but once selected, the choices sore delete or canceL Needless to say, creativity slowed to a halt after all this fooling around. I'll build my movie on my desktop when  get home. It saddens me that Apple can't seem to do much right anymore. Been on this platform and was an evangelist for decades. It just works has become, it just doesnt work, it seems. V© video shot  inh Camera app, failed editing exercise is in iMovie iOS.
