Q: RAM from my mid 2011 27" iMac into new Late 2015 27" imac

Hi,

I have 32 gb ram in my mid 2011 27 inch iMac (1333) 4x8gb.  The new retina 27" iMac comes with faster ram.  two questions:

Will the 1333 RAM work in the new iMac?  If so, I think it might be best to just move the 4x8gb sticks over to the new iMac.

Or should I get 8gb of new RAM to go with the 8gb that comes with the ordered machine?  I don't think putting two DIMMS at one speed 1333 with the new RAM is a good idea.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), DCPH9122DHJQ

You should only put in RAM which have the exact specs for the machine; the new retina iMac needs these:

Install memory in an iMac - Apple Support

Yes, I would order the iMac with its factory installed RAM and, as long as that is a 27" iMac, you can add RAM later; best to order from one of the two most recommended vendors: OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial. If you are talking about a 21.5" iMac, you cannot add RAM later.

Yes.  However, purchase the additional RAM from OWC or Crucial(direct).
