I lost all my past and future calendar events in my iPhone 4S, at the same time the Calendar app does not accept any new events entry; can anyone offer recommendation how to recover/reset/restore ?

I understand you are missing calendar data on your iPhone 4s and you can't make any new entries. If you use iCloud or a similar service, I would start with making sure that your calendar data is located online. For iCloud you can go to iCloud.com and select Calendar to verify your data is present. If your entries are there, take a look at the troubleshooting information in the article below.

If you use another service for your calendar entries like Google, Exchange or Yahoo, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap an account, then turn on Calendars.
