need help with my disabled ipod touch 4th gen

HI! so my friend recently found his old ipod from years ago and he forgot all of his apple ID information, the username and the password and he now has an ipod touch 6th gen with a new apple id. so he gave me his 4th gen ipod touch. It is disabled and it says connect to itunes. I do not have an apple computer, all i have is a chromebook and i cant restore it. is there any possible way to restore it without a computer or restore it with a chromebook? if not is the ipod just useless now since its disabled and theres no way i can connect to itunes? i tried using my friends macbook and i put it in recovery mode and connected it to the computer but it says that i need to put in the password on the ipod but obviously i couldnt put in the password even if i knew it so...(i tried the DFU method also) please help guys i really dont wanna scrap it. Any help at all is appreciated! thankyou!

If you/they previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipeto erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.

You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

You have to know the ID and password for the account.

Otherwise yo need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection. As yo know, a Chrombook can't install iTunes.

You can go to an Apple store

Disabled

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
