Error 4xxx/1/40000000 after voltage drop

Hello there. I have a problem with the power reports of my macbook pro.

Two days ago my street suffered a voltage drop, and during two hours the electric staff were running and falling constantly.

My macbook was charging and I didn't noticed that, so it was receiving these voltages changes. When I noticed about that my battery was 98% charged, I disconnected the battery adaptor, and the macbook switched off automatically, and now I have the same problem each time I try it. From that the macbook only starts when has the battery adaptor connected, so it doesn't work as a portable anymore. On the battery state says REPLACE NOW. I tried all ways, as switch on pressing D before grey screen starts, or take off the battery and place it again. I used the Apple hardware test and it said Error 4xxx/1/40000000 so I Think the battery is dead.

I know that my battery has already a lot of load cycles, but it was working perfectly until this moment. I also know that others neighbours had suffered problems in other electric staff at the same time, so I would like to know if could be possible that this Error would be produced by the voltage drop? And , Coould I get a report about the moment when the battery failed?

Thank you so much for your attention.

Andrea.

That error code does signify a battery problem. I cannot answer if the voltage drop caused your problem and I know of no report that would indicate when the battery failed. Perhaps there may be some information in the console log.

Your best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the MBP evaluated for FREE. There may be other problems besides the battery.

Ciao.
