Jan 19, 2016 11:11 AM in response to MauiBenby Pmintz25,Do you use this TV/Apple TV as a display for the Mac Pro? Make sure Airplay is turned off. It must be autoconnecting via Airplay.
Go to System Preferences > Displays > Airplay: set to "Off"
See if that does anything. I think you can also turn Airplay off on the Apple TV so it no longer allows device to connect to it. Look through the settings on the Apple TV. I'm not 100% sure if you can have the Apple TV "forget" devices. I would have to go try it myself, which I will do if need be.

Jan 19, 2016 11:24 AM in response to Pmintz25by MauiBen,Nope, I don't use the Apple TV as a display for the Mac Pro. In fact, for some reason, I can't even "see" the Apple TV from my Mac. Meaning, it does not appear in the menu bar, even though I have "Show mirroring options in the menu bar" checked in System Preferences > Displays.

Jan 19, 2016 11:54 AM in response to MauiBenby Pmintz25,Check out this article
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201960
It explains that newer Macs and Apple TVs have Wake on Demand and Bonjour Sleep Proxy that interact with each other. Assuming both devices are on the same network, they are most likely automatically connecting, causing the Apple TV to wake when the computer is on.
Try turning off Wake on Demand on the Mac Pro under System Preferences > Energy Saver > Uncheck "Wake for Wi-Fi network access" (May say "Wake for network access" or "Wake for Ethernet network access" depending on how your device is connected to the internet and the compatibility of the Mac.)

Jan 19, 2016 12:12 PM in response to Pmintz25by MauiBen,I don't keep my Mac on sleep, I shut it down completely. I did make sure that "Wake for ethernet network access" is unchecked.
I tried disabling all sharing from my Mac (file, printer, iTunes). This didn't help either.
I tried disabling home sharing on the Apple TV. This also didn't help.

Jan 21, 2016 11:30 AM in response to MauiBenby Pmintz25,Do you want the Apple TV to control your TV? Because if you don't, try disabling the setting shown below. I know this doesn't stop your ATV from turning on but at least the TV won't boot up every time. I've read some other support articles about this same issue and there doesn't seem to be a resolution that I am aware of. But if you find one let me know.
