Final Cut Pro isn't recognizing JVC GR-HD1 camera

Final Cut Pro isn't recognizing JVC GR-HD1 camera

FCP says the "device is not connected" when I try to import from my HDV camera.

Everything is set up properly (I think). Do I need to download some kind of communicator so my iMac will recognize my camera?

Have you used the easy setup for the format of video you are trying to capture? i.e. HDV 1080i 60 for example? You'll find these "Easy Setups" in the Final cut pro menu. You have to choose the right device control and capture preset for the format and camera for all to work right.

Are you useing a external hard drive to capture you footage to? when i use my external drive to capture, my canon xm2 is not recognised, as apposed to when i capture to my internal HD... it is apparently a firewire port conflict, which can be resolved by getting a bit of hardware or capturing to you internal HD

I'm pretty sure I set my easy set up properly. When I open my "capture now" window FCP says:

"Unable to Initialize Capture Device and Device Control

Device is not connected or the capture preset and device control preset are not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips.

This might also happen if you play DV fottage in an HDV device"

I know 100% it's HD footage so the last part is not the problem.

There's more than one device control for HDV cameras... try the different ones availalbe... There's a "basic" setting I'd try first. Don't have one of those cameras here, but figure that one or another device control setting needs to be selected.

Does anyone know for sure if this camera and its hdv compression is compatible with FCP?
