ipod classic charges when plugged in, but won't connect.

When I plug my ipod into my computer, it won't charge for about 45 seconds, and when it does, it doesn't display that it's connected. It won't show in iTunes or just on the computer in general. At first, I thought this issue was my computer, but it won't work on any computer or car stereo. Not sure what to do.

Be sure to try doing a Reset (restart) of the iPod, if you have not already

The iPod's 30-pin dock connector has "pins" for data and for power. it's possible the connections for power are working (so the iPod charges), but the connections for data are not. If this is the case, the problem could be on the iPod side of the dock connector, or the cable side (such as a worn out connector). To rule out a faulty USB docking cable, try a different cable (if you have one).
