Q: Ipod does not turn off and apple logo remains on screen

My daughter turned her Ipod touch off one evening and the next day when she attempted to turn it on the apple logo came up and staid on.  Her Ipod will not turn on and the apple logo remains on the screen.  I have tried holding both the restart and home button down.  I have tried to update/restore in iTunes.  I receive an ITunes message during extraction that the Ipod cannot be found although it shows her name for the device.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am not able to locate the serial number to contact apple as I am not able to turn the device on to see the serial number and cannot locate it in iTunes.  Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Try restoring again but

    Check your USB connections

    Errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014. You might also see a message that includes "invalid response."

If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.

To narrow down the issue, try different equipment:

If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues.

    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
