Q: what happens if I deauthorize all my devices so I can install itunes on my new pc

Trying to put iTunes on my new pc.  Didn't Deauthorize the old one.  It says I have 5 things on my apple id and I need to deauthorize  one of them but it doesn't show them. It will let me deauthorize all but what will happen?

If you Deauthorize All, you would have to re-authorize any computers that you are using iTunes for your Apple ID on. You can only Deauthorize All once a year.

It resets the authorization count on the iTunes Store servers. If you find that a computer has been deauthorized afterwards, unless it's reauthorized, it won't be able to play protected iTunes Store content from that account, or redownload it from the iTunes Store, or use the Transfer Purchases function.

Thanks Gail, I  dont actually have 5 pc's its one pc and I believe 4 ipods, 2 of which I dont think are used so how will it affect those?  Or how do I reauthorize them as the songs i have in my pc are on my ipod.

My itunes were transferred to my new pc, but i guess the issue is it wont upgrade . I can listen to most of the songs but some come up and wont let me hear them as they were songs my son bought on his old ipod which does not work and has his apple id on it and he doesnt remember the password.

I get option that comes up when I try to upgrade to "repair" or "delete and reinstall the. Itunes. Dont know what to do?

    1. An iPod won't be affected unless it's synced with a computer that doesn't think it's authorized. If it is, any protected content in the iTunes library won't be synced to and may be deleted from the iPod.

    2. Click here, follow the instructions, click on Store or Account in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Thanks for your help. Are you saying if I deauthorize all, I will be able to upgrade and buy on my new pc? The itunes were moved to my new pc, but its not letting me update or upgrade and i tried to buy a song and its not there. If I deauthorize all will it remove itunes from my new pc? The 5 devices i believe are ipods abd my old pc, so how will it effect my ipod or what will i have to do to it?

    1. It depends on what the problem is. Issues installing, reinstalling, or removing iTunes aren't caused by problems with iTunes Store authorization, including running out of authorizations.

    2. No.

    3. See #1 in my previous post.
