Q: Can i access iCloud files without internet ?

Hello ,

Today my company bought 7 iPads for our Sales agents and I need to prepare them for duty .

I need to transfer all the price lists and some other stuff to these 7 ipads , most of the files are excel files so i searched google and it says the easiest way is through iCloud . Now i understand that you need internet to sync the iPads with iCloud but will the Sales Agents be able to access those spreadsheets once they're out of internet reach ?

The iPads don't have SIM cards (iPad Mini 2) so once they're out of the headquarters they don't have access to internet .

Is this they way to do it ? or will i have to install some app and transfer the spreadsheets ?
Thanks in meanwhile

    Hello VivaLaDio321,

I understand that you are needing to move some content over to multiple iPad mini's for the Sales agents of your company. Let's see if we can get this sorted out.

The first part of your question is can the files be access when not online. The answer to that is going to be yes on the condition that the documents would need to be downloaded to the App. For example, Numbers would the spreadsheet application that you would use and is free with these iPads and if you are using iCloud, then it would be a matter of adding the spreadsheets to the app by either uploading them to iCloud.com or being created within the app itself. The change's if any would be updated once they are connected to the internet. Take a look at the first two links that go over downloading Numbers as well as some information from the User Guide of Numbers for iPad.

Now if you are wanting to use another application besides Numbers, Microsoft does make an Excel app but does require a subscription to Office 365 to edit the documents in what they call a full experience similar to how excel functions. You would also want to see if the documents can be stored locally to the app similar to how Numbers does this as previously explained. The link below will have information on Excel for iOS.

This should get you started on what will work best. I would recommend that if you are using iCloud, that each agent uses their own iCloud account. This will ensure that if they edit files that they don't mess each others work up.

Just an idea for you... if these same agents have a phone with data, you could teach them how to create a hotspot, join the hotspot from the iPad for the time they are out of a wifi zone.
