Q: HDTV display stopped working following El Capitan install

Following the upgrade to El Capitan, the previously functional and non-problematic mirroring display from my OSX iMac to Panasonic HD TV has ceased to communicate and the TV screen stays blank ! There are no options available when selecting preferences / display. No settings were changed to Mac or TV prior too or following upgrade !

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that after updating to El Capitan, you are having issues mirroring to an HDTV. I would suggest the following article to make sure it is set up correctly and in the "Get help" section, there are some suggestions if it isn't working correctly after setup.
Use AirPlay to display video from your Mac on an HDTV
