Jan 21, 2016 2:35 PM in response to mcadro3207by jeffd55,Hello mcadro3207,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see that you are having issues with your computer running slowly and issues with your internet connection. Here are a couple of articles that should get you started with these two different issues.
OS X El Capitan: If your Mac runs slowly
OS X El Capitan: Solve problems connecting to the Internet

Jan 24, 2016 9:45 AM in response to jeffd55by vshamgin,This response is somewhat a joke. The problem with wifi is in el capitan itself, not in our cables and ISP. In fact I have 2 identical Macbooks, One I stupidly upgraded to el capitan, the other runs it's original Lion. The result: opening a Gmail page takes 5 minutes on el capitan and almost instantly on Lion. Apple let us all down. I am _not_ going to upgrade my hardware just because Apple had released glitchy software (deliberately or by neglect). Before the upgrade it said it is compatible with my hardware. Go fix it. So far I saw the fixes to el capitan like "fixing some wake up issues on some 4K monitors". Very helpful for somebody, not for us.

Jan 24, 2016 10:18 AM in response to mcadro3207by BobHarris,The Mac running slow can be caused by 3rd party additions which do not play nice with El Capitan. Please post the output from EtreCheck
<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174>
Also run Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and see if there are processes consuming an excessive amount of CPU, Disk or Network I/O.
Finally look at Applications -> Utilities -> Console for log entries that are occurring frequently, such as start, die, start, die, start, die, ... This kind of event will consume resources, but not show up in EtreCheck or Activity Monitor
If you solve this, it may improve your WiFi issues, or at least eliminate one problem.

Jan 31, 2016 8:48 AM in response to mcadro3207by Mike B,I have similar issues, at times web pages can be slow to load and emails not load, seems like the computer can't connect to the wifi properly although without any errors showing, restart the computer and everything is fine again... for a while, then after a couple of hours, or maybe a day or so the wifi seems to clog up again. I have Little Snitch and can see when there is outgoing and incoming traffic, when there is an issue I click a link on a web page you can see a little red and green and then no traffic at all whereas when there is a problem free connectionand you click a link there is a burst of green and some red.
I even had the ISP tech come out and look at his equipment 'router etc.', I showed him the really long time it took the 'broadband speed' test page to load and even some poor results from it, and he showed me on his PC connecting to the same wifi and it whizzed along with the same broadband text from my wifi connection returning its full 6 megas download and 1 upload, my jaw dropped as I was sure it was the internet.
I don't have issues with the computer being slow, its just like there is dirt in the WIFI fuel tank that clogs it up at times, restarting generally clears the issue.
Have deactivated Firewalls etc. and doesn't make a difference although I diddn't expect it to considering the problems come and go with restarting.
Here is my EtreCheck output:

Jan 31, 2016 3:32 PM in response to Mike Bby BobHarris,This Mac should scream. 16GB RAM, and an SSD.
Based on all the things I've called out below, I suggest you run an experiment with a Safe mode boot
<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564>
This will NOT load all the 3rd party additions you have running. I strongly suspect that while Safe mode uses very conservative drivers and is not the fastest mode, it will behave better than your system with all the 3rd party stuff you have installed.
And if you want to keep any of this stuff, I strongly suggest you make sure you have up-to-date versions that are compatible with El Capitan.

Strongly suggest you get rid of your anti-virus software. OS X has it own protection, and besides there are no in the wild viruses for OS X. Please read the following before you decide to use an anti-virus
How does Mac OS X protect me?

By purging inactive memory you are interfering with OS X memory management. You are forcing OS X to go back to the storage device more frequently because that Inactive Memory you purged was the file system cache. RAM is much faster than any storage device, including an SSD. Also RAM draws less power than any storage device. And all power used results in heat. So you are slowing down your system, and causing it to use up your battery faster, and making it run hotter.
NOTE: The long time forum contributors strongly recommend against unnecessary anti-virus packages, unnecessary Mac cleaners, and unnecessary memory cleaners/performance enhancers. From all the posts complaining about performance issues and kernel panics, these classes of additions have been at the root of most of them, especially with El Capitan.
Moving on....
Dropbox Application (/Applications/Dropbox.app)
Google Drive Application (/Applications/Google Drive.app)
Dropbox and Google Drive an put a load on your file system AND your network. Anytime there are changes to the file system, they wake up and check to see if it was one of the files in the folder tree they are monitoring. If it is a file they are monitoring, then they start transferring data over the network. And of course if you have another system using the same network storage, or you have actually allow someone else to write to you shared storage, Dropbox and Google Drive will use your network to transfer the new files to you.
PhotoSync Application (/Applications/PhotoSync.app)
PhotoSync UNKNOWN Hidden (missing value)
AdobeResourceSynchronizer UNKNOWN Hidden (missing value)
Wondershare Helper Compact Application (~/Library/Application Support/Helper/Wondershare Helper Compact.app)
I confess I do not know what these do, but since I'm thinking about things that could consume your network bandwidth, I figured sync and share are often used in a network context.
Anyway, if these are using the network, you might wonder if they are consuming your bandwidth.
I would not pick on them, except if you have enough different network daemons, each can consume a small part but the whole can add up to a huge network load.
2% Google Chrome
1.31 GB Google Chrome Helper(10)
Google Chrome is very resource intensive. Normally a 16GB system with an SSD would not notice this, but you appear to be swaping, and you are complaining about slowness. This can contribute to your problems.
FUSE for OS X (OSXFUSE) [Support]
MacFUSE [Support]
NTFS-3G [Support]
Paragon NTFS for Mac ® OS X [Support]
All of these are involved with interfacing with storage. Depending on what you have them pointing at you can impart a significant load on your system. And if any of the FUSE modules are offering remote network access, that would add to your network load.

Unless you know for a fact that these kernel extensions are doing something useful for you, then you should not need them. OS X is perfectly capable of reading and write external disk drives. You might consider removing them.

It worked for a few of us. I didn't reset PRAM, only SMC. So far, Safari is way better and surfing is up to Leopard :-)
