Hi,

I have not seen messages/alerts like those.

Does the downward arrow allow you to Download the item ?
The File Transfer Window implies you need to download them.

Hi,

Do you Little Snitch ?

It is an app that act like a firewall as it shows you the Ports and IP addresses that an App wants to connect to.

There are other apps like this about.

Their main purpose is to Monitor and Inform but in some cases if you don't know a support process is involved then it can be blocked (or not Allowed)

This is the type of thing that pops up.

It is this File Transfer Agent item you need for iMessages File transfers (pictures are included in this)

In the Little Snitch App it is listed as two connections.

There is a slightly different named one for transfers via AIM and Jabber connections.

Hi,

No you don't have to have it.

(It also comes with a trial version that lasts about 3 hours each time you boot the computer).

I was saying that if you do have one like this it can block but processes (sub routines in effect) that are connected to the App but not fully part of it.

Other Alternatives http://alternativeto.net/software/little-snitch/?platform=mac

I have just written another reply to a similar question in this thread Re: Messages no longer allows me to transfer images using AIM

I spent time seeing how it was working between my iChat 5.0.3 Snow Leopard computer where there have been no changes to the app and with my El Capitan iMac where El Capitan has received Updates.

The outcome was not good. AIM only seemed to allowed Zipped (Compressed ) Pics.

Sending in folders worked sometimes but not as often as Zipped files.

I must admit I am not seeing the same messages in the File Transfer window as the Original Poster. They either work or go straight the "Failed".

Hi,

I have not seen that error messages before.

Have you changed something ?

There is an App called Little Snitch that monitors and makes requests about every connection an App will make (if you set it up that way).

There are several support processes to Messages that can get blocked this way if you don't realise they are required.

Little Snitch is not the only app that performs this sort of check or Firewall type behaviour.
