AirPlay with ATV4 and El Capitan
Hi, I am using Book Pro with OS 10.11, one from mid 2011 and other mid 2015, and ATV4. The TV is from 2006.
I cannot stream! Netflix say the TV is not compatible. With iPad IOS 9.2 is no problem. Any hints?

Could you explain the problem a bit more? You Apple tv connected to the tv doesn't play netflix?
I go into Netflix with BookPro and trying to view with TV via ATV and Airplay. Does not working. Netflix say that my TV/screen is not compatible with Apple. Lack of compatible HDCP and cannot use Airplay
So why don't you just use the apple tv to view netflix on the tv? Why do you want to airplay netflix from the macbook to the tv via apple tv?
Normally I do that but since I am away from my location (Sweden) in Spain, some programs are blocked,
That is why I have to use VPN with the Mac. I have tried with other programs without VPN and did not function either.
For future reference please explain all that in the beginning. The original question you posted mentions nothing about being out of your country or using vpn.The more info about the issue your having will help get a better and faster answer to your problem. I really haven't used airplay all that much. Hopefully someone else on the forum can help how that the problem has been explained in more detail.
So I am back in square one again
Viewing my TV by streaming with my Mac (El Capitan) and Netflix, via ATV4 and Airplay, is not possible.
The problem seems to be that the TV is ¨not compatible with HDCP¨, according to Netflix
Using VPN or not, does not change
Be in ¨my¨ location or outside, does not change
Acm001, thanks for your efforts. I hope your colleagues can come up with something
I am concerned that when your MacBook is connected to VPN, then the MacBook and the Apple TV are no longer on the same local
network. To check this:
1) When connected via VPN, can you still just display your MacBook screen to the Apple TV? In this case, I suspect that the MacBook and the Apple TV are on different subnets (networks).
2) When not connected via VPN, can you then display your MacBook screen to the Apple TV? In this case, I suspect that the MacBook and the Apple TV are on the same subnet (networks).
With or without VPN is the same, the Mac screen is displayed on ATV
The message from Netflix
Ok, I think I now understand the problem.
The root problem is that you cannot view Netflix on your MacBook with or without Apple TV, right?
But if you could view Netflix on your MacBook then you could mirror your MacBook to the Apple TV and watch it on your TV, right?
I can use Mac to view Netflix, no problem.
When I want to use Mac to view Netflix with ATV via Airplay, then it is impossible. Then comes the error.
So I assume, that it is an Airplay-problem?! Or my TV is not HDCP compatible?
How do you have your MacBook display(s) configured?
Do you strictly mirror the one MacBook display to the Apple TV?
Or do you configure the MacBook to have two displays, the MacBook display and a second display that is the Apple TV?
I have tried the 2. Same problem
With two displays configured, did you try the Netflix window on each of the displays? That is did you move the Netflix window to the MacBook display and then move it to the Apple TV display?
Now I am lost!
I tried using Built-in display for the 2, Mac and ATV.
And then to ATV (Airplay). Did not made any better
Did all the 4 variants, built-in and ATV for each Mac and screen/ATV
