Q: Upgrading to El Capitan -- I have moved all my Events to Albums .. When the upgrade takes place I assume that my events will disappear and the newly moved albums will remain

I am upgrading to El Capitan and have moved all my Events to Albums ..I assume when the upgrade is completed that my events will disappear and what will remain are my albums and will not be duplicated from "Events"

    No

All albums will be migrated, smart albums will be migrated to the extent that their criteria is supported in Photos  and all events will be converted into albums and stored in a folder named iPhoto events

I have no idea what you are asking - If it is about exporting Photos has the same export capability as iPhoto

As I understand it all my "photos" will be store in the "Cloud" and not on my computer --- therefore will I be able to download a photo or two to my computer from the "Cloud"

    Not at all

first off using iCLoud is an option - you may choose to use it or not

and if you do choose to use iCloud PHoto Library  your photos are stored in iCloud (the full sized originals) and depending on the options you select either the full sized originals or a smaller optimized original will be on your Mac - in either case when you do anything needing the full sized original (edit, export, share, etc) it will be downloaded if needed automatically

Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.

When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there is a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder.

    PsimulatedEvents.jpg

To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.

NOTE: It's been reported by several users that if the Event albums are moved out of the iPhoto Library folder in the sidebar they may disappear.  It's not widespread but several users have reported that issue.  Therefore, if you want to assure that you keep those Event albums don't move them outside the iPhoto Events folder.

There's a way to simulate events in Photos.

When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder

When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

Albums and smart albums can be sorted by Title, by Date with oldest first and by Date with newest first.

Tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added in Photos via Apple-Photos Feedback.
