Q: Can I upgrade my 24-Inch Dual Core IMac (Early 2009) from 4GB ddr3 1067Mhz RAM to 16GB ddr3 1600Mhz (it says 8GB maximum for this model)?
Can I upgrade my 24-Inch Dual Core IMac (Early 2009) from 4GB ddr3 1067Mhz RAM to 16GB ddr3 1600Mhz? I read that it can only be upgraded to 8GB maximum but I am unsure as to whether than was when they were sold or if it the maximum capacity the computer can take.
Thank you for your help,

You can upgrade the RAM, however 16GB ddr3 1600Mhz is NOT designed for your iMac. Please use the correct RAM specifications, iMacs are extremely sensitive to RAM and require the correct specifications and high quality RAM. The most experienced users on these forums tend to recommend Crucial (buy direct from them) or if you are in the USA, RAM from OWC (www.macsales.com).
Do not purchase RAM from your local computer store or inexpensive RAM, at best it is likely a waste of time and at worst it simply will not work.
