Military CAC stopped working with Yosemite

I have been using the military CAC SCR 3500 with my MacBook Pro for the past several years. Today while using my CAC card, it mysteriously stopped working (as in, I was on OWA reading and sending email). I wasn't applying any updates and have a relatively new card (within the last two months). Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
