missing music

Hi,

I'm missing some music from my library on both my phone and my mac. I bought 3 complete Radiohead albums which no longer have all the songs available.

If it helps, the albums involved are The Bends - track 9, Bullet Proof, Amnesiac - track 1, Packt like Sardines in a Crushed Tin Box and Hail to the Thief, missing tracks 2-9 and 11-13.

I've clicked "unhide iCloud music preferences" on my mac and can't find them - same when I look on the library on my phone (I haven't downloaded any of these albums onto my phone). When I go on the iTunes store, I can see the complete albums so I don't understand what the problem is. I don't want to rebuy the albums/tracks in case I get charged. Can anyone offer any explanations? Starting to feel frustrated

Make sure you show the Purchased screen using the All option (instead of Not in My Library). Are the songs still not shown there, with the show All view?

If you look at your Purchased screen using the Songs (not Albums) view, at the right end of the row for a particular song, there is an X (with circle around it) when you hover the mouse pointer over that song. If you click that X, the song no longer appears on your Purchased list (it is hidden). In case you did that by mistake for those missing songs (or they got set to be hidden due to some error), this document describes how to "unhide" previous purchases that are hidden.

Hi again.

I've tried both and still no luck. The first picture shows that they still don't appear even when I've selected All. As you can see from the first picture, the only songs are I Will, A Wolf At The Door and 2+2=5 for the album. With the second suggestion, when I go onto my account, there is no button to 'manage' hidden purchases (as can be seen in the second picture). Is there anything that you can suggest? Thanks for replying so quickly!

I cannot see that from the picture; all the songs shown there (from "17" to "28") just say "Radiohead" to the right, so I don't know what album they are from. Those other songs are from other albums?

If you don't have the option to unhide items, that probably means you don't have any items that are currently hidden.

Go to your iTunes account info screen again. Click on Purchase History -> See All. Find the specific purchase where you bought this album. If all of the songs are listed as purchases (not just the three shown on Purchased screen), go here and get help from the "official" iTunes Store customer support. Keep the iTunes window showing purchase history for the album open; you'll probably need that info.

FYI - You can take screenshots on the computer screen. Press Command-Shift-4 on keyboard. The mouse pointer turns into crosshairs. Click-hold and drag a portion of the screen to capture. The portion you selected becomes a screenshot image file, which appears on your Desktop. (Command-Shift-3 takes screenshot of entire screen.)

This is all very nice that you can re-download purchased songs, but what about all of the ones that I loaded from my C/D collection? I had spent considerable time to load some music for my Mexican vacation only to find out it was all gone on arrival !!! All fine and dandy that there are ways to possibly sync and reload but how does a person do this when 3000 miles from home and no internet?

The real problem here is that this is MY phone and it was MY music. It is not for Apple or anyone else to take anything out of my phone that I do not authorize. Will they grab all of my pictures next? If this needs to be explained to anyone, then you live in a different world than me.

I have been a loyal customer of Apple products for a long time and have worn out several previous iphones and currently have an iphone 6 plus and two ipads. I convinced my parents and several friends to get iPhone and think that I have done a good job of waving the Apple flag over the years.

If this was a mistake on Apple's part with the latest download, then it needs to get fixed asap. If anything resembling this ever happens again to my information on my phone, they need to be warned that they will permanently lose a loyal customer..... Tom

ratmoul: It is best to start your own topic if you have a question since this one has been pretty clearly marked as solved by the hosts. When you post your question you will need to make it clear if you are subscribed to any of the iCloud services such as Apple Music or Match. That's the only way I can think of that media control gets confusing because then your device is not syncing to your computer but to iCloud and how you have that set up.

I can't help but recall my traveling the world 30 years ago with no media player at all... 🙂
