It sounds like you want to know if your iPhone is capable of making calls using VoLTE. The following Knowledge Base article offers up the requirements needed to be able to use VoLTE and how to enable it:
Make calls using Voice over LTE (VoLTE)
Check your carrier and location
Whether you can use VoLTE depends on a few things:
- Your location, your account with your carrier, and the model of your phone
- The carrier, carrier account, location, and phone model of the person you're speaking with on the call
- Australia: Telstra
- France: Bouygues Telecom
- Germany: O2, Vodafone
- Hong Kong: 3, China Mobile, CSL, PCCW, SmarTone
- Italy: Vodafone
- Japan: DoCoMo, SoftBank, KDDI
- Singapore: M1, Singtel, StarHub
- South Korea: LGU+, SK Telecom, Olleh
- Spain: Vodafone
- Switzerland: Swisscom
- United States: AT&T, T-Mobile USA, Verizon
Turn on VoLTE
Some carriers turn on this feature by default. To find out if VoLTE is on, go to Settings > Cellular > Enable LTE. If Voice & Data is off, tap it. This turns on VoLTE.
If you see an error message
When you try to turn on VoLTE, a message might say: “Cannot Activate LTE Calls. To enable LTE Calls on this account, contact your carrier.” This can happen with some account types, including business lines, on some carriers. Please contact your carrier for help.
You might see a message that says to insert a new SIM card. This can happen with older SIM cards, or a micro-SIM card that's cut down to the size of a nano-SIM card. You might need a new SIM card to use VoLTE. Contact your carrier.
