Print from OSX to Epson 5900L at W2k

Hi

I have troubles to print from my Mac Pro via network to my Epson Laserprinter EPL-5900L on a W2k machine. What I have checked:
- Mac Pro has all updates.
- Made a Gimp-Print driver update to 5.0.0
- All network settings are accurate (connected via Linksys Ethernet router without any firewall)
- Mac and Windows use the same user with same password
- It is possible to locate the printer in OSX and to add. But there is a Samba Error and a "NT STATUS_NOMEMORY" Error

Thank you for your help

Sandy

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I assume the printer is set to share through the
Windows machine?

Yes, it is shared through Windows.

Does the Epson have an ip address? If so try setting
up the printer in Print Utility to connect via the ip
address.

The Printer has no Ethernet interface, it is attached via USB to the W2k machine. You mean, to have something like smb://w2k machineip/printer ?

Maybe a general question. I updated the drivers in OSX, if OSX finds the printer and does not print then, do I have to update the W2k driver as well?

Use the advanced windows printing method to give you more control over the URI -
After clicking ADD, hold the option key while clicking More Printers. Select Advanced from the bottom of the top menu, then Windows printing via Samba in the next menu.
Experiment with the URI:

smb://workgroup/server/sharename
smb://server/sharename
smb://user:pass@workgroup/server/sharename
smb://user:pass@server/sharename

The workgroup name need only be specified if your system is using a different workgroup. The user:pass strings are required when printing to Windows NT servers or to shares with passwords enabled under Windows 95 and 98. (copied from CUPS software administrator's manual)

I use smb://192.168.1.8/Epson_R200
(server IP address/printer sharename)
