  1. see > About LCD display pixel anomalies for Apple products released in 2010 and later - Apple Support
according to everymac.com, your iMac has:
This model has a 21.5" glossy LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen TFT active matrix display with "IPS technology" and a native resolution of 1920x1080. Apple also reports a viewing angle of 178 degrees horizontal and 178 degrees vertical. The contrast ratio is 1000:1.

it is really hard to paint a mental picture - take a screenshot of the entire display when you see the anomaly = Command + SHIFT > 3 = and post here

  2. Get = User uploaded fileApple Menu > About this Mac and post the screenshot = Command + SHIFT > 4 then SPACEBAR to get a "camera" cursor
    User uploaded file
  3. see others thoughts = Plus

tell what has changed since this started = anything at all including the environment

NOTE: There are no known viruses that affect OS X in the "wild" - NEVER install anti-virus software in OS X, it will only slow your Mac down (at the very least)
