I installed OS 10.10.5 and MS Office 2011 gives me an error message "word has found a problem and needs to close"

iMAC 27" 16GB memory; 2.66 GHz; 999GB hard drive; running IOS 10.10.5

Problem arises when trying to use Microsoft Office 2011; Get error message "that office (word, excel,ppt) has found a problem and needs to close". This happens as it is trying to open any of the programs..word, excel, power point.

I uninstalled MSoffice 2011 and reloaded it using my home and student disc version 14.6.1522; same problem

VIN,iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

You may need to upgrade to MS office 2016. It may not be supported by Yosemite.

Office 2008 to 2016 are all supported by yosemite, that includes 2011.

Re do the installation, follow directions carefully and disconnect any external devices.

I did as you requested and have the same result with error messages telling me "word or PPT Or excel needs to quit, sorry for the inconvience"!

I was expecting that by re-installing MS OFFICE it would open. Instead I have the same error message the it needs to close!

Step 1.Remove the existing installation.

Do this before trying install a new copy.

OK, I printed out the 8 pages of 11 steps in order to do this. Previously, I did perform un-install, but apparently that is not good enough to catch everything. This is going to take awhile. Thanks for your help.

OK, I managed to complete the MS Office removal process. I assume step 2 is re-install using my MS Office 2011 disc. However, I will wait on that just in case that is not step 2. What do you want me to do for step 2?

Yes, restart and reinstall from disks, updates will be needed as well.

See the Csound1 method for removing and re-installing MS OFFICE 2011 for Yosemite version 10.10.5. It works without going to Office 16 upgrade.
