Q: bootcamp drive not bootable

Using disk utility to look at my bootcamp drive, I click on the info button at the top left of disk utility, and see that my drive is not bootable.  I have been trying to install win 7 with bootcamp, but each time the system reboots to start the windows install, I get a "no bootable device" error.  Is the reason because my drive is not bootable to begin with?  How do I make my drive bootable?  I've tried deleting the bootcamp drive, and making a new one to no avail.  I've also tried completely reinstalling a clean os x.  That hasn't worked for me either.  I can find no information on what to do online.  I've had win 7 installed on my system before, and had no problems for over 2 years.  I deleted my bootcamp drive because I wanted to do a clean install of win 10.  Now I'm not able to install either.  My win 7 disk is oem, ultimate 64 bit.  The win 10 disk is an iso of the 64 bit version.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Your Windows drive boot ability is not related to anything in OS X. It is determined by a Hybrid MBR which maps your GPT to an MBR. On your specific model, you need to use the built-in internal Optical drive and a physical DVD to install Windows. Using a USB on your specific Mac is not supported and modifying Info.plist will not work, despite all claims to the contrary.

If you use EFI boot, some of your Apple-specific hardware will not work.
