swap optical drive with ssd - which caddy to use for imac i8?

I want to replace my optical drive with a ssd drive. I have a late 2008 imac (model i8). Does anyone know exactly which optical bay/caddy/enclosure is needed for this task?

Will this one work?

Thanks Mike!

Since I don't live in the US I'll have to stick with ebay... but it looks like this is the same caddy.

The bigger question is if the SSD will be fast enough after being converted to PATA (if it works at all)..

Is there anyone out there who tried installing an SSD in an old mac with a SATA-PATA converter?

My original plan was to put the SSD instead of the optical drive.

But I'm told that this would be senseless because of the low speed of the PATA connection (It was a stupid plan, so I can see why you were confused...).

My new plan is to install the SSD instead of the HD, which is SATA, as you said. That makes more sense 🙂
