Firmware not Compatible

I just got a new iPod touch and wanted to update it to ios 9.2 through the device, ever since then it has been stuck in recovery mode.

So I connected to iTunes and it says I have to update or restore. The problem is that with either of these options because the internet is very slow (50-100kb/s) when the iPhone reboots itself it interrupts the download. So I tried to download the firmware directly from some ipsw websites (had to wait over night) making sure to select the right one, which is not too hard because theres only one for iPod touch 6. And clicked update/restore on itunes while holding down shift on my pc and selecting the downloaded file. But it keeps coming up with "firmware not compatible" and no other information. I have tried rebooting the computer, stopping my antivirus software, reinstalling itunes and redownloading the firmware. I have the latest version of iTunes. But it still comes up with the same message.

It's been less than 2 weeks since I got my device and this is quite frustrating. I would appreciate your help but please READ the above so as not to tell me to do something which I have already tried. Thank you!

iPod touch, iOS 8.4.1

Thanks for the link, the file looks exactly the same as the one I previously tried to download but I'll try it again using a different browser. One more question - is there a way to download the firmware through itunes without connecting my device? Because when I connect my device, it reboots every 15 mins and interrupts the download and I have to download it over again. With my current internet speed it would take at least 4 hours to download without interruptions. Thanks again for you help 🙂

There is no way to do it without the device connected. However, I recommend the following when you are trying to update the device. With the device connected and you check for update, you should be prompted to choose one of the following 3 buttons when you see the update listed. Download and Install, Download only, and cancel. Select Download only. That will download the firmware to the computer, without relying on the device, and not risking the device interrupting the download. Once the firmware completes the download, you can click on Update again in iTunes, it will take you through, and this time will realize the file is on the computer and run through the installation process. With questionable internet connection, that is the best course for you to take.
