Q: iMac not responding
Our iMac has now locked us out. It stopped recognizing the bluetooth keyboard(which is good because I paired it up with our MacBook Air) and in an attempt to figure things out, restarted it. The window to enter the password is grayed out and I can't get any further. I tried the SMC reset with no luck. I tried inserting the start-up disk which I believe is El Capitan although it won't give it back to me to verify.
This just came on all of a sudden and I'm hoping to avoid a trip to the Apple store.

Use any USB keyboard and if you are having trouble with your wireless keyboard please read and use If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad aren't working as expected - Apple Support
