Q: I lost my External HD with Time Machine bop after last security update

My Yosemite can't mount my external hard drive after the last security update.

My drive has 2 partitions. EFI (boot) and other(HFS+) with my normal files.

The Disk Utility read the disk, but de hd partition name still greyed and after try to repair it, the disk utility says to format it.

I need help to recover my drive without lost content and read my pictures, music and job.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), external seagate 2gb expansion

Boot into the Recovery Partition (command - R on a restart and try using Disk Utility/Restore to copy the backup to a new location. Please note that this will reformat the destination partition. Make sure the files are on the new drive. If so, erase and reformat the old drive.

If Command R doesn't gets the job done then scan the external hard drive with Stellar Phoenix Mac data recovery software. The demo version will help you know the exact amount of files it can recover from inaccessible;e hard drive.
