Apple Apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, etc.) are not free for my new iPad Air2

HI, I recently bought a new iPad Air 2. It didn't come with the set of iPad apps and when I tried to download them at the AppStore, I noticed that they're marked with the full price.

I checked the help community and saw that some other members had also had the same problem. I tried all the suggestions: cleared cache, restarted, signed out of the App Store. But nothing worked. My iOS is up to date.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Or aren't the apps free anymore? This is my first ever Apple product so I'm kinda lost here. Really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

HI there,

I had the same problem, but when I tried to download the apps, it said I could have them for free as I had already downloaded them before. If you haven't downloaded them before, try putting your Apple ID passcode in. From there, if it alerts you that if you carry on with the process you will have to pay, then just cancel it, but if it doesn't then you won't have to.

Hope this helps,

Aaron

Thanks Aaron, I haven't downloaded the apps before: this is my first time using an Apple device. And the app (Keynote) is still shown with the full price when I'm signed in with my Apple id and password. And when I touch the price it says 'buy'. I didn't proceed because I didn't want to buy it and first wanted to see if there's a way to resolve this.

Try this:

Go here to verify your device registration (you'll need to login using your Apple ID credentials):

https://supportprofile.apple.com/

You can view your registered device(s) here and if there are any you've missed registering, you can do that as well. You can also register new devices here. Afterwards, visit the App Store and your free apps should be available to you.

*IF* this does not work, continue as follows:

Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:

Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"

Force Restart your device:

Force Restart (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button

2. Press and hold the Home button

3. Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off, then back on displaying the Apple logo.

After the device has restarted, sign back in to the App Store as above. Try to download the apps again from the App Store.

That procedure usually fixes it so I don't know what else to suggest except to contact Apple support...they should be able to clear it up.

Funny, I get hounded to install those apps at least once a week. The pop-up (to download the free apps) appears in the App Store and have to cancel it as they are already in my purchases. Go figure...๐Ÿ˜

Sorry we weren't able to help.

OK. So I finally managed to resolve the issue. Here's what I did. I set my payment method to none, went to the AppStore and tried clicking the "Buy" button on the Ketnote app. And it got downloaded without any problem! I then checked my purchase history just to make sure if it's really free. And there it says that the total price is USD 0.00!! Going to try the same thing with the other apps.

I have no idea what happened and why. ๐Ÿ˜• But I'm glad that I could resolve the matter. Thanks everyone for trying to help me. I really appreciate it. ๐Ÿ™‚
