insert a valid sim with no pin lock to activate iphone 4

Hi there,

I know some people have had this problem. I just bought a brand new iphone from US' apple store to use in Canada with Rogers. I cut my own sim card and inserted into the sim tray of the iphone 4. Unfortunately, it's reading the "insert a valid sim with no pin lock to activate iphone." My 4 is unlocked and it says so on the receipt as well. I've tried rebooting it and everything but it still reads that same message. I was wondering if it's something wrong with my iphone? should I go exchange it? I know the SIM isn't damaged because it still works on my Android Phone despite the size.
