15"MBPr Display Flicker when moving cursor

Hiya all,

I've noticed something odd happening with my Mid-2015 15" MBPr. The feature that let's you increase the size of the mouse cursor by moving it very quickly to find it on the display, causes the display to flicker and tear momentarily. Is this a known issue? I run the display settings at preset resolution. Any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Howdy Molndal,

It sounds like you are shaking your cursor and your screen is flickering and you see some screen tearing. I would first boot into safe mode to see if it happens there. If it doesn't then restart and test the issue again:

Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

  1. Start or restart your Mac.
  2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
  3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

If the issue persists then I would reset your PRAM:

Test the issue again after that. If it still isn't resolved I would next reset the SMC on your computer:
