Q: EverWeb vs iWeb

I'm building iWeb sites since January 2006 and EverWeb sites since february 2014. I'm not a one page template user but creating multiple pages sites from blanc pages. I'm not a coding expert but a graphical interface user. Please add any comments…

Especially for you I created these tables as a puzzle: look for the 15 differences

Why?  What is the point of that?  It would be a waste of time as I don't use either iWeb or EverWeb.

As my sites got more complex and I wanted to do more things, I moved over to the content management systems and now mostly use Drupal for all my sites.

As I don't use either of the applications, this would seem to be a pointless exercise.

Good constructive feedback - I wonder how you earned your level 6 points?

The same way you got yours.

I understand you want to help other users make a decision on what product to use when they can no longer use iWeb, or outgrow it. You are free to provide any information you want.

All I ask is that you provide correct information. I'd really like to find out why your website is not working in EverWeb. We build very large websites with hundreds of pages in EverWeb without problems all the time.

It could be that your website is having problems, but we'd love to help you fix it.

Please understand that providing incorrect information hurts our company grow. Our employees depend on the success of EverWeb and we are very passionate about it. We always want to make it better.

Can you please either provide a way for me to contact you, or contact our customer support and reference this forum post so I can help you?

Please don't think of us as some faceless corporation, we are hard working, passionate Mac users like yourself trying to create a useful product for all of you.

I await your response and the opportunity to help you successfully use EverWeb.

    Thanks,

    Paul from EverWeb

You are right, I have not been correctly reviewing version 1.9.5 only. I also took my past experiences with older EverWeb versions into account when I was trying to recreate my iWeb sites.

As you can see in the last table that I added, called ‘Final update …’ I already remove the row called ‘Create very large pages’. This was also based on an older version when the EverWeb pages couldn’t be larger than 2000 px. The same goes for the crashes and lost Hyperlink formats and lost images from the Image Galleries or Image Sliders when they were updated in previous versions of EverWeb.

So you are right, I should provide objective, relevant and correct info only based on version 1.9.5. And I certainly do not want to hurt your endeavour to create a replacement for iWeb. I applaud you for that.

Okay, were do I go from here? I think that the best for now is that I start a new branched discussion called ‘EverWeb 1.9.5 versus iWeb 3.0.4’. In this thread I will post the table again without the two rows called ’Stable continuity of programs functions’ and ‘Crash proof during website building’ because they were influenced  on my past personal subjective feelings.

Hereby I officially give the Apple Support Communities Moderator (I know from recent experience that they are watching me on this thread) permission to remove this old thread called ‘EverWeb vs iWeb’ immediately!!!

"Where do I go from here"?  Well, I think Paul from Rage already told you that - if you are having problems creating your new site with EverWeb or converting, e-mail him your contract e-mail address and him and the rest of the team can help you in your endeavour.

Other than that, go to the EverWeb forums and post your questions and comments there instead.
