deactivate IPv6

Apple Discussions:

I have had problems with my internet connection. A man from the cable company examined it yesterday then called me this morning.

This cable company's IPv6 -- Internet Protocol version 6 is not compatible with Apple's Airport Extreme and I assume Airport Express.

How do I go into the Airport Utility and DEACTIVATE IPv6?

My configuration is: An Airport Extreme connects to a cable modem and is the wireless router to an airport express that provides wifi to tivo boxes and a blue-ray player.

How do I deactivate IPv6 and will the previous protocol IPv4 be used instead.

Thank you for any help. I can not find how to do this on the Airport Utilities software.

I, too, having been having horrible connection issues with my AEBS using Cox Communications in Omaha, NE....just got off phone with support and they told me the same thing. AEBS and Cox do not play nice together using iPv6. Cox told me I had to figure out how to disable iPv6 on my AEBS. Search led me here.... I opened Airport Utilites v6.3.1 and Configured iPv6 to Link-Local...SUCCESS. Thank you for posting solution! Shouldn't Apple come up with a firmware update to fix this?
