What are these marks on my iPhone's GLASS? How can I get rid of them?

Clean your hands better? You're getting something on the glass beyond normal average use. My iPhone 5S never had such an issue, even before I put a screen protector on it.

Explain exactly why you cannot put a screen protector on this iPhone, please.

And yet, I'm not experiencing these issues, and you're refusing to use a simple & basic method to protect your screen not just from fingerprints, but also minor wear & tear.

This is not a 'screen problem'. This is a user problem. Your skin produces oil. It also gathers dirt & grime. That can get transferred to other surfaces. And on darker surfaces, those 'smudges' are more visible. That's biology & physics.

I've got a beautiful flat top stove that is all black. Spent quite a bit for it too. It's looks beautiful when it's clean. But it shows streaks & grease very clearly, because the black coating is more reflective. So I have to keep it clean if I want it to look pretty. My next stovetop will be a lighter color, simply because of this.

Keep your fingers cleaner. Use a screen protector. Keep a micro-fiber cleaning cloth handy to regularly clean the surface.

At first I thought it was excess oil and dirt from fingers too, but when I looked closer at the pic, I saw what he was referring to. There are small dots that are noticeable. He has red arrows pointing to those. I thought he already had a screen protector and that those were bubbles that couldn't be removed. With no screen protector, I'm guessing it's part of the glass from the inside. I'm not sure, but that's my guess. So even with a screen protector, those dots would be there, correct @fleXTheConsoleGuy?

Okay, looking at the photo again, I see those now. Those are really hard to see, and it could possibly be a screen defect. So, since the OP is within return time (normally 14 days IIRC), I recommend taking it back to point of purchase and getting it exchanged, and before leaving, intentionally smudge the screen the same way to make sure those 'dots' don't appear again.

Thanks for pointing that out. Not sure how I missed the red arrows, or that they were pointing to very small 'dots'.

Then you should complain to the store that sold it to you about not getting a receipt. And in the future, you should take care to make sure that you always get a receipt for an important purchase.

I'm also noticing that I can see the wipe marks on the screen, which means you are using something that is not good for the screen. If you have a cloth you use to clean your eyeglasses or sunglasses with, that is your best bet for cleaning the screen effectively and thoroughly without scratching or other wear on the screen. If you don't have one, then if you have the special cloth that you would clean a camera lens with, that would work as well. You don't want to use anything that would leave wipe marks like the ones that are showing.

The cloth should always be completely dry.

You may find that if you can use a cloth designed to clean glass in the way described above that the other marks will go away as well.

I would strongly recommend that you only clean the screen on the new phone with a clean dry, eyeglass cleaning cloth or camera lens cleaning cloth. Both are easily obtainable from Amazon. I use them on both my iPhone and iPad device screens as well as on my Mac screen.
