Bad download. Try this instead: Download and Reinstall OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 Combo Update.
The same thing happened to me, but the error message actually suggested re-downloading from the Apple Store and even launched the Apple Store for me. And the second time it worked. Not confidence-inspiring.
