Can't upload Pages document to Facebook

I have Pages '09 version 4.1 and a new MacBook Pro with Version 10.10.5, Yosemite. I created an announcement with Pages, importing a photo. Since I haven't yet figured out the new Photoshop and Lightroom system very well, i made a copy of a photo and placed in on the desktop. Although I did not do anything in Photoshop with layers - just lightened it up a bit, it came out as a psd. I went back and flattened it and saved it as a jpg and replaced the psd photo on the Pages document with the JPG. Facebook still comes up with the same message. Someone said to open it in preview but I don't even really know what preview is or understand it. I've never used it. On my older Mac, I was extremely proficient with Photoshop - used it often and always without a problem, but this new LR/PS system still eludes me.

Preview is an application included with OS X. You will find it in your Applications folder. Export your Pages document as a PDF or one of those images you've manipulated as a PDF then open the PDF with Preview. The easiest way is likely to be to just drag the icon of the PDF to the Preview.app icon in Applications. Then, in Preview, go to File > Export… & choose JPEG from the Format: drop-down menu. You should now be able to upload the resulting file to Facebook.

Thanks for replying, Peggy. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. First of all, when the app drop-down menu came down and I found Preview, it would not stay open when I clicked on Finder, which automatically closed the app folder. I tried to drag Preview to the bottom work bar and it wouldn't go. I made a copy and put the flyer on the desk top and successfully dragged it into Preview. But when I went to File, the only export option was to a PDF - there's no drop down format that drops down - it's locked at PDF. Thanks for trying, anyway!.
